Upon arriving at The Haven, participants enjoy a healthy breakfast and pair off with volunteers to begin reading. Volunteers help students record their reading in their individual folders. Twenty minutes prior to the conclusion of the session, children assist with clean up and play games with volunteers before departing.

The club is open to children in Pre-K (age 4) through 5th grade residing in the College Creek Corridor. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to accommodate children outside this age range. Children residing outside the Clay Street neighborhood may be eligible to attend on a case-by-case basis. A completed permission form is required for participation.

We are always happy to have additional adults supporting our club! Adults (aged 18 and above) are required to submit and pass a background check through College Creek Church to be permitted in The Haven during our sessions. If you’d like to attend with your child, please contact us to begin the background check process.

The Haven is a community space located at 36 Clay Street, Annapolis. In addition to acting as a venue for community programming, it offers free wifi, a mobile computer lab, showers, laundry facilities, coffee/tea, and food. It is open to the public Monday - Friday.

Gott’s Garage and Whitmore Parking Garage are both within walking distance of The Haven. Parking validation is available for volunteers using Whitmore Garage.

Yes! We would love to have you volunteer at our club. If you are under 18, please have your advisor, club sponsor, or guardian reach out to us to get more information.
